My boss is just plain nosey. He could help me but he won't because he is tight with his money and he just likes to gossip. It hasn't affected my job performance whatsoever. He knows about the situation with my Mom'* illness but the legal thing is something which he just is nosey. He also likes to gossip and that is what concerns me also.

To clear the confusion up- I'm not laying in wait to go off on him but I am trying NOT to go off on him but I know that eventually he will push my buttons and it will happen.

If he has no intention of assisting in whatever manner possible, and your performance at work is not impacted, then he needs to mind his own beeswax!

I had a boss like that once. The place recorded all phone call too (they had to) so one day I left my son a detailed message to call me and basically say I got offered another job several $k more per year and they would like an answer by Monday. I turned to my co-worker who was in tight with the boss and asked if , hypothetically, two weeks notice was sufficient or is one plenty. then I left for the day.... got a nice raise a few days later (before Monday)

Money makes up for a lot of BS; for a while at least.

Technically, without putting the attorney on retainer, he isn't bound by "Attorney/Client privilege", so there is nothing that says he can't tell anyone he wants about your conversation....other than a sense of decency. I wouldn't have anything to do with him again, a lawyer who gossips is NOT a good thing.
