Need help with music editing.
I have a few songs, and I want to remove the lyrics from them, leaving the music only. Is this possible at all, or just a waste of time? Even if it'* just a program that muffles the words almost completely (like a karaoke style type thing) , that would be fine. Anyone help me on this? Thanks.

yup, its pretty hard. the best you can do is cut some frequencys from the song but that messes up the music. when the songs are made they are recorded in multiple tracks and then its all combined when its put on a CD. all editing of lyrics and beats or whatnot occurs before its put on disc. DJ'* do a lot of stuff with loops and can offten get their hands on some of the instrumental peices through "sources"... Can't really help ya out there too much. I've been wanting to do this to a lot of my music myself... :(

What Darrel is talking about is mastering. The DJ'* usually belong to a "Record Pool" where they are given promotional copies of the new and upcoming music which contain remixes, and instrumentals.
In order to remove the lyrics professionaly, You would need the original DAT tape in order to re-load it into a studio environment. I have a button on my mixer that muffles, not eliminates the lyrics, but its only done on an aux input, not digital like I wish it could be. I could chop the song, take a sample and loop it for you if you'd like
