Cody, you should get up to Mid-ohio or somewhere to watch a SCCA race. That'* a lot like what you're talking about. I, myself, do not see a point to Nascar. I cannot watch a Nascar race for more than 5 minutes, and I don't understand how people watch this stuff EVERY weekend. I guess I'm spoiled on WRC and F1, but w/e. Hopefully the X-games helped people get a glimpse of how racing SHOULD be: Intense, dirt-flining action!

I also would rather see cars in their street form, just hopped up, which is why I don't watch NASCAR.

For the TV, yeah it'* the best I've seen yet

Back on topic:
If you're bored/pissed with NASCAR, do what I do: go out and have fun in your own car.
Find a drag strip, or a local SCCA chapter and do some cone dodging on an AutoX course.
Or find a local dirt track and wait for amateur(sp?) night!

Doing is so much more satisfying than watching.

Some places *hence Georgia* don't have tracks like that. We're stuck with the boring crap they put on tv.

Yeah you do, you just have to look

And as for drag racing, there has to be SOMEthing within an hour or two from your house.

That'* true. The more I look around, the more that I find is right near me somewhere.

And to keep on topic, Cody, what I'm seeing people say here is that there are currently some alternatives to NASCAR, and good ones. They may not be broadcast every weekend for the masses, but I believe that anytime a sport grows to the size of NASCAR, it will necessarily be watered down and homogenized. Kinda comes with the territory.

I used to HATE NASCAR until I met my wife. All of my in-laws are NASCAR fans (Jeff Gordon - but I don't hold that agianst them ). I started to watch it with them, and now I am addicted. Kinda like this place... but anyway, all you have to do is pick a driver you like, find one or two you hate (Tony Stewart and Dale Jr. work great for me ) and just watch. It'* a lot more interesting when you have something to have an interest in.
Just wish Pontiac was still involved.
