I agree. They would get closer than most of you think. The only reason they're slow these days on the super speedways is because of the aforementioned restrictor plates.

In the days before restrictor plates, Bill Elliot set a record at Talladega by going around the track at an average speed of 212mph. The next year (198 Nascar started mandating restrictor plates at Talladega and Daytona to keep speeds down. Today, almost 20 years later, I bet a modern Nascar engine could make enough power to go 230 or 240 if it were unrestricted. That'* just my guess, though.

With four engines, four turbochargers, and ten radiators I wonder how the oil system is on that and if something breaks the mechanical nightmare it would be to take something in that engine apart!

He said at the top speed of 250MPH the tires only last 15min, But thats ok because the fuel runs out in 12min

...I guess if you spend nearly $1M to buy one, the cost of fuel isnt going to matter. You know its sad when you can't even go to a track to experience the limits of the car. Is there anywhere in North America where you can experience 407 kph?
