what kinda of motor do the nascar cars have? i have always wondered that.

They are v8'* and they put out about 750 HP on average. I believe they are required to be OHV design. I don't think they are very big displacement either.

depending on the track they have more or less, on super speedways they must put a plate over the intake manifold or carb. It has 4 small holes, they do this to keep speed down, and keep the cars together. This is more "exciting" but there'* always a "big one" (wreck) now because of this, and it'* scary.

yeah i found the dodge engine size they use a 5.87 sounds like to me a bored over 350

Basically, they are totally custom. My folks used to live next to one of the shops that make 'em in Midland TX.

Push-rod V8 with a maximum displacement of 358 cu. in., 12.5:1 compression and a maximum 850cfm carb. The work done to the heads cost more than out cars.

That sounds right...I think Ford is still using the Cleveland block, too...
