I stood in my patio doors for about an hour and a half. I took about 60 or so pics! Needless to say it is very hard to catch lightning without a fast shutter. I did my best though most of them were too slow. It stormed like that for about 6 or so hours straight yesterday! The most I have seen in one day.

Can you manually set the shutter speed on your camera? If you can, set it on the slowest speed possible, mount the camera on a tripod, push the button halfway down to autofocus (shadow!
), then click a shot & hope lightning strikes. I took about 100 pictures of nothing but black sky - my shutter would stay open for about 8 seconds - but if I was lucky enough to have the shutter open and was pointed at the right part of the sky, I got things like this. Very little skill and a great amount of luck!

Thanks for the tip. Thats a great shot. I will have to look into that. Although I only took about 60 total and got the pics shown. I only have a 10" tripod so I would need a table. LOL! Thanks for the comments everyone. I am glad to say the sun has been out all day today finally.

Never could make that work. If I could figure out how to hold my shutter open longer than 8 seconds I'd have better luck capturing more flashes!
