Default My temporary new ride

2001 Jeep Cherokee Sport

My mom'* friend just bought a new Mountaineer and said this Jeep had been sitting in their driveway for the last two months so she gave it to me to use until I get Guinevere back. And dad'* F-150 was sucking gas money out of me plus he wanted it back so this worked out great. They were looking to sell it anyway, we might just buy it from them to have the extra vehicle.

Its alot nice than I expected it to be, when i saw it it looked like an early 90'* Jeep but I found out its an '01 which surprised me because I thought they had changed body styles by then. It has about 81k on it...but anyway here it is:

It drives very nice, though it could use another gear for OD...interstate driving empties the gas tank fast, but around town it seems to get close to what the bonnie gets. Had to buy new wiper blades yesterday Found that out the hard way after driving in the rain in the morning. And the only other thing is the turn signals, they only gave me a problem when I picked it up from my mom'* friends house they wouldn't work for half of the drive home. But since then (All this past week) the signals have worked fine but occasionally i hear a clicking sound or a 'white noise' sound coming from behind the dash, when i jiggle the signal switch it goes away. I'm wondering what that would be...Relay Switch? That could cause a fire to couldn't it? I kinda wana get that fixed...

but anyway...you guys like?

Does that sound with the turn signal make like a really fast buzz when it doesn't work?

Nice temp ride though.

never got so much of a buzz sound, but when they didn't work nothing happened at all. The sounds I'm hearing happen just after using the signals, The sound I'm getting is a sorta slow ticking sound, or sometimes it sounds like static you'd get from a radio that isn't tuned into a station...

It'* the flasher unit, it should be in the fuse panel or thereabouts. It'* a small silver cylinder.

BTW they did change body styles in the early 90s, but they didn't change MUCH. All new sheetmetal which happens to look a LOT like the old. The easiest way to tell the new from the old is to look at the taillights, the newer ones have slightly rounded corners.

Yeah I have realized that now, before i didn't see the difference but now i can tell, lol. My cousin has an earlier model Cherokee, I was over at his place last night and i compared the two.

I'll have a look around in the dash tomorrow or Tuesday sometime...

Oh WOW. Later 2-door Cherokees are a rare find. Not rare... just uncommon. I would KILL for a 4.0 2-door Cherokee.

Stroke it!

You can get about 260HP outa that thing with a 4.6L stroker kit.

Or, cheaper... is to get the head from a 91-92 XJ, and slap it on that thing. Combine it with the equal-length runner intake manifold that has, and it'* good for a couple dozen ponies.

Seriously, that thing is light, fast, and is a freakin' mountain goat. If you're ever looking to sell it, lemme know.

lol, well I don't own it, Its still my mom'* friends. They are thinking about selling it and we are thinking about buying it. not set in stone though. it would make an excellent vehicle to have, only other thing i could ask for is possibly a different color and Manual trans, that would been fun.

I believe this thing would put up a fight vs. my bonneville, Bonnie would take it but the jeep would keep up close for a little while

and i am soooo loving the Tinted windows, I have always kinda wanted it, but now I definitely do!
