Tomorrow i have plans to use the hoist at work and change the trans fluid/filter.
However, one catch. The 4T45-E has no dipstick, only a fill port under the TB.
So i go to my favorite alero info website aleromod.com and read up on how to do it.
"The only way I know is with the test plug: with the tranny fluid up to temperature and the motor running, be sure the car is level, and remove the test plug adjacent to where the passenger-side axle shaft comes out of the transmission. Fluid should just dribble out. If no fluid comes out, you are low. Any more than a dribble and you are over-full."
Damn. If it wasnt for my hoist at work, that would not be a user friendly job.
I also read that doing a pan drop on it only changes 3-4 quarts. Can anyone back that up?
aleromod.com by the way is an EXCELLENT source for info on the N Body car, lotsa knowledge over there!

I hate the fact that GM has been doing this with so many cars! My CTS is the same way..... no dipstick for the transmission. You have to hoist the car to check the fluid level-- stupid.
