My new car...
 

Is non existent. I need some feedback. I have not been able to find a good car for some reason. I know that my priorities are weird, but I don't care, lol. I have narrowed it down to 2 cars.

1st Car:
'85 Omni GLH Turbo
1500 bucks

Good:
Good on gas (29 MPG)
FAST!
Cheap

Bad:
Rust through floor board (doesn't look like it until you pull the carpet)
Has only been driven 20 miles a year for the past 10 years
Interior is not in the best condition
Paint is flaking and rusting

2nd Car:
1995 Pontiac Bonneville SSEi
3500 bucks
Good:
Familiar Engine
FAST!
Rebuilt Transmission
Runs perfectly
Familiar engine
Perfect Exterior and Interior (new paint)

Bad:
Not good on gas (but it's got cruise control and might be just as good on gas as the GLH)

Yeah, I have quite a dilemma. Please help :-D

You don't want to mess with a rusted through floor on a car. I been there, and it almost caused me to get into a bad accident. It's nearly impossible to fix or stop. And when the seat finally falls through the floor, you have to be pretty damned quick in reacting to it to keep from losing control of the vehicle (and potentially your bowels if you're in traffic at the time).

You're a pretty tall guy and with a small car like the omni you might feel uncomfortable and crowded. The omni doesn't have AL7's :lol: If you can avoid it, you might prefer to start out with a car that isn't already rusting through. A rust spot is one thing but when its rusting through, your sandles will get wet when it rains. :bouncingsmiles: You don't want that!

You know what you're getting with the SSEi, and if you treat it right, it won't be bad on gas and it will last you for a long time.

With my car, I can get good mileage and drive like a slow economy car, and be just as dependable...
but I also have the option to speed it up at the cost of some engine life and gas mileage.

PS: Wtf is an Omni, will you even be able to find parts for that thing?

if you even consider the Omni, you should be banned. not because you wouldn't buy a bonneville, but because of the issues you'll have with that car. Rusted through floors are not something you want to deal with. Just cause the carpet covers it, doesn't mean you won't go through it.

And it is over 20 years old. Those motors are finicky to say the least. You'll probably end up with a pinky on this one, and it will probably eat throught the rest of the difference in price, and then some.

your call, but if this is going to be your only car, you might want to think carefully.

I've managed to convince him to let me show him aroudn my hometown because we have a lot of nice cars for cheap here...

as much as i want to say omni, the rust issue should be enough to disqualify it. without that rust i'd be 100% for the GLH.
