Default My new car....

im picking it up tomorrow. i looked at a ton of different cars, and finally made up my mind

its a 2001 Alero GLS, 3.4 v6 dk blue, moonroof, leather, chrome rims, cd/tape (monsoon i think? sounds pretty damn good from what ive heard so far) for $7,000

the car has some power too, on my test drive i laid into it from like 5mph and laid some smoke down, much more grunt than the aurora. mid range pull seems about the same, maybe slightly better, not sure. but kickdown from about 60mph is decent, but runs out of steam around 90ish, not as much top end.

brakes - ive heard bad things about the brakes on alero/grandam'*, that i should replace the rotors with slotted ones because they overheat, well from about 40 i hit the brakes, and from 30, 20 everytime it threw my forward and i can lock up the tires (while abs engages) stops MUCH faster

suspension cant hit the corners very fast, not a big deal because the car has a ton of wheel gap, so ill most likely get a set of drop springs/ performance struts.

and one of the best features......just like a eclipse, girls like the alero'* :P

yep....I will have lots of stuff for sale too...mostly car audio stuff, ill borrow th digi cam, and rip all the stuff out of the aurora. im probably keeping the stock stereo in the alero, and most ill replace the speakers if they blow.. nothing fancy like in my aurora

picked it up today, it really does have some down low ball....um power, but from 60 it doesn't compete with the aurora, all in all, id say it would get to 60 faster. its the "gls" which i guess is the top of the line, the interior is really nice on it, im really suprised because ive sat in grandam'* and was never impressed. i loke how they use more of a leather dash than a plastic....the stereo, its the "monsoon" i guess, doesn't say it on the radio, but there'* a amp in the back that says monsoon on it, sounds very very good, no reason at all to change it out.

only thing id like to do is a slight drop with new struts, it doesn't handle very well, and has a ton of wheel gap. 50% tint would be nice.........oh no, i dont want the mod bug again.....LOL

Mikey, I'm about the last person in the world one would expect to say this, but that drop kit and those rims make that Aurora look AWESOME! I usually hate low-profile aftermarket rims and drop kits, they make the cars look ghetto oftentimes. But that Aurora look awesome. Gives new meaning to the phrase "Bad sombitch" :P

Nice to keep you in the Oldsmobile family Mikey, enjoy the Alero, its a solid car no doubt. It takes after its big brother the Aurora, I only regret I have is not being able to line it up with you in our Roras

Enjoy it!

thanks for the compliment! when its clean, it does look good, sexy, but my gf tells me after i buy a new car she hated my old car and thought it was ugly...LMAO at least she'* in love with the new car, wants to buy one

the alero NEEDS a drop, bad, the amount of wheel gap is horrible.
