Default My latest Ebay toy.

Been watching these for the last half a year on Ebay, watching what they were selling for, different set ups, etc. I knew what I wanted, and I now knew what to expect to pay. So I decided it was time to pull the pin. And I did. Watched this one for a week, had all the probes I wanted. The closing time was a weird time, 7am on a Sunday. Hmm, keeps the snipers away. So I took my laptop with me last week on our trip. Before going to bed, about 1am Sunday I placed a bid. No other bids came threw. I got it. Ya me.

It'* a Sun LS2000 automotive oscilloscope.

I've wanted a scope in my shop for ever. I learned on a Sun scope when I was in school for automotive, way back in the early 80s Granted, it was a bit larger back then.

Kind of hard to see the display in the pictures.

Here'* the unit with the probes.

Going to take a while to get used to one of these again. The one in school was mainly for the ignition system. I made sure this unit came with the probes to monitor spark. I can monitor knock sensors, throttle position sensors, MAF, O2. Anything. I can pull up wave forms for most sensors from memory and then compare to the actual readings I have. This will help track down suspect problems. This opens up a whole new world of services for me. Diagnostics and trouble shooting is a high value high return area. After the tools, it'* only time. And time is money.

The last one I used was about the size of a microwave and a screen about the size of a deck of cards. It also had a pile of wires sticking out the back.

Went out and played with it a little bit. Tested my TPS. The top line is the stored wave form, the bottom line is the readings from my TPS. It'* not a perfect match because it'* reading me moving the throttle by hand.

Can't wait to play more.
