Public Speaking, AHHHHHH!!!!! Today i had to give my first speech. it was about me so it wasnt so bad. i had to make it 3-5 minutes and i was so nervous but as good at talking as i am, i went through it with no problem. I hate speaking in public, but i did it>> YAY for ME!!!LOL!!!!!

Good job! I really respect that you pulled it off...public speaking terrifies me...to the point where my eyes twitch and my throat seems to close up so I just always avoided it...

Good work. Public speaking is a good thing to know. I took a bunch of speech classes, and it'* not easy. I never had a problem going in front of people, it'* just that remembering the darn speech is the hard part.

Hey-Congrats!! I always dreaded public speaking (and I dread having to take it in college)...but the first speech is always the hardest. My number one tip for you...when you think of a topic for future speeches make sure you pick ones that you have a good knowledge of before you even start any research. You'll end up with a better speech and you'll feel more confident. Maybe that was a "no-brainer" but, it was an important lesson I learned from high school public speaking.

Props to Mom for the support! Public speaking gets ALOT easier. Just get your confidence up now, and you'll never have a problem with it, regardless of the size of the audience. I've been on TV, interviewed on live radio, been published, and spoken to large groups on several occasions. At this point in my life, it'* no different than talking to another person, face to face. Great job!

The more you do it the easier it gets. Here'* a little tip, when you first get up to the podium take a moment to look out at the crowd, smile and take a good breath. The most important thing in public speaking isnt how well you talk, how long you speak for, it'* being comfortable and relaxed. If you are at ease on stage the audience can see that, but if you're on the point of panic the crowd will pick up on that and make you feel even worse.

Used to work with a guy here at hp that had a big problem with this. He was up for a very stressful interview, and I got permission from the boss to take him out for a couple beers, bring him in for the interview, then take him home. Worked like a charm, he was relaxed and did very well. Did alot for his self-confidence

Public speaking is tough, especially at first. In highschool I was in a speech/actor program called Forensics (4n6'*) where we would travel to other schools and compete in various events. That program helped me out a lot and was a blast. When I got to college and took my first speech course, I felt so comfortable getting in front of all those people every week and reading a 4-12 minute report. Good job!
