Looking at the Yaesu FT-7800...dual band. My friend has one and he'* pretty satisfied with it so I figured it'* a good radio. Just got my Tech. license for now (KE5UKM), basically planning on using it for Skywarn/Ares/Races etc.

whats a good repeater to use here in Dallas area? I got 2m in the vehicle, but havent found one yet. Maybe they all use PL tones?

The main repeater I use is in Denton (W5NGU)...check out http://www.dcara.net/guidelines.htm to get the info if you're interested. Heard someone talking earlier that said they had some classes in Lewisville, maybe that was you?
