Default Moving to Chicago - Help

Hey guys, I accepted a job offer for a summer internship in Chicago!! The place I'm going to work at is close to O'Hare and I was wondering where would be a good place to look for a summer place. I'm leaning toward something west/south of the O'Hare area, but am open to suggestions. I found a couple places in Wheaton that offer 3 month leases which would be a plus, but what areas would you shy away from - crime and other bad stuff - and what places would be good. It looks like rent for a 1 bedroom is like $700-800 minimum and I don't want to spend a whole lot more if I can help it. I don't really want much more than a 30-40 minute commute either. Any suggestions would be GREATLY appreciated!! Thanks Chicago guys (or anyone else with knowledge of the area)!!!

NOOO, WE NEED ALL THE CHEESEHEADS WE CAN GET!!! WHY, WHY MUST YOU ABANDON WISCONSIN?

Chicago is not really that bad. That rent is a little high for a 1 bedroom. Don't know a WHOLE lot about those neighborhoods, BUT that rent does seem a BIT high, maybe i'm wrong.

I've been searching on apartments.com to sort of get an idea. Maybe that doesn't give the best picture though. Either way it'* a step up in price from Platteville, WI where I'm renting a house (six of us total) and I pay $200 a month including utilities. Hard to beat that...

If you hear gunfire during your search, either buy a gun, or find a lower rent location in the direct flightpath of the main O'hare runways. Takeoff location is cheaper rent than landing pattern locations.

Be careful of the rather heavyset large african-american gal that works at McDonalds at O'hare. She'* scary. If she'* your neighbor, get a cardboard box, and move in. Count your blessings.

stay away from bellwood, maywood, stone park, melrose park, franklin park and areas around there im forgetting. i live in berkeley which is right next to hillside and elmhurst. look in elmhurst if you want nice. wheaton is nice so is naperville. berkeley and hillside are really so/so, but you can find something cheap if you need it.

edit. villa park, lombard, and geln ellyn arent bad either. id personally reccomend carol stream, theres alot of new stuff going up and its reallly nice up there.

I use to live in Bolingbrook (basically Naperville) (Washington and Weber) and it was really nice. The new part of Bolingbrook is almost as nice as Naperville but half the cost.

I'm actually IN Wheaton myself. I live in Wheaton Center (the biggest buildings in Wheaton). Are those the ones you've already checked out? The Metra station is literally right across the street from me. There'* a total of 6 buildings to choose from:
