Moving to AZ on May 15th for flight school
That'* right, my wife and I are leaving good ol' Iowa for a while so I can pursue a career as a pilot. We'll be leaving on May 15th and heading to Surprise, Arizona, where we'll be staying with a retired couple whom we know quite well. I start at AirSafety Flight Academy on June 5th, which will be a 10-12 month program that will take me from zero flight experience to instructor ratings in single engine, multi-engine, and instrument flying. After completion of the courses I'll probably be working as an instructor for AirSafety for a few years to build flight time, at which point I may apply for a job with a regional airline. We'll see what the future has in store!
All that'* left is for my wife and I to finish our bachelor'* degrees here at Iowa State in a few weeks, and we'll be ready to head down and start our new life in the brutal heat of the Southwest! I've already contacted Echo_SSEi and joined the AZClubGP website, so I'll still be in touch with the 3800 community. Hope to meet a few of you West-Coasters in the next few years, and maybe even get in on a WCBF. It'* sad to leave Iowa, but it'* time to start "real life" I guess....

People think flying is a big, complicated undertaking, but it really isn't anything like that. It takes most people a year or two to be certified to the level I mentioned, but that'* also because most people don't train every day. I'll be at a school that specializes in flight training, with some of the more advanced equipment on the market. Besides, the federal government closely monitors the requirements for earning different pilot ratings. Believe me, I won't be cutting any corners at this school

I can fly....sort of....hell I guess anyone can fly a sim though, if they have access to one that is
Take comfort in knowing I can fly an Airbus if I was onboard and something mysteriously happened to the captain and first officer.
Best of luck to you....Embry Riddle in Daytona has a program similar to the one you are going through, but I bet it'* way more green. Any commercial liner type ratings you trying to get?
