Default Monte Carlo done as of end of this

Production year

as per jayski.com

Chevy to scrap Monte Carlo...again: Inside Line has confirmed with supplier sources that production of the Chevrolet Monte Carlo will cease at the end of the 2007 model year. That means the last Monte Carlo will roll off the line sometime this summer. In recent years, the Monte Carlo has been one of General Motors' biggest successes on the NASCAR stock-car racing circuit. But the two-door companion to the Chevrolet Impala sedan has not resonated with the buying public.(Edmunds.com), it was announced in October 2006 that Chevy would be going to the Impala for Car of Tomorrow [COT] races.(3-8-2007)

I'm searching for more information on this. As i understand why the Monte Carlo was brought back and it was only brought back for NASCAR and seeing as when they roll out the COT full time in 09 it will be the Impala Chevy no longer has a need to carry the Monte Carlo (slumping sales) I do see this as a way to even more so increase the popularity of the Impala.. But where does this leave the 2dr soon to be RWD section of GM???

I know the Camaro is coming out but still

IMO this is a bad move by GM

I saw that on Jayski too. I personally think they should revamp it and bring it back as RWD. Like a Monte should be.

The brand new Monte Carlo is just....nasty looking, it looks tame and really blends in with the scenery. I saw one just the other night and kinda threw up a little.

The generation right before the current one had huge potential for GM but for whatever reason, they didnt use it. I see them all over the place, not sure the years of the body style but i think its like 97-04ish...but they are really sharp looking cars, especially the SS version.

But sadly, with the exception of I think the last two years of that run, the well reknowned Monte Carlo SS would not be able to keep up with the unheard of Oldsmobile Intrigue..and that my friends is sad. When the SuperSport version of a car comes with a naturally aspirated V6 that isnt much of anything special, its just not right.

Well the new impala will be a cousin of the G8, so to have a new MC would require a lot of different parts, etc... Kinda an easy time to kill it.
