I was weed whacking today and out of the corner of my eye saw a snapper lumbering out of my creek and headed for my pond. I hate to destroy them because they are getting scarce around here, but don't want them eating the wife'* Koi. So I snapped his pic and give him a lift back to the lake. Went to save the pic after crunching to post and figured he looked like a Maurice, so here'* Maurice.jpg.

He barely fit in a plastic kitty litter bucket, about 9"x12". About "medium" for around here. I've seen them go 2 feet across locally. I was kinda worried he would lunge as I got right in his face with the cam.

LOL, I ran in the house and grabbed my Canon. Wife got all exited as I came around the front of him and layed out in front of him. The grass you see in front of him is all there was between him and my fingers.
Hey John you need new blades on your mower the ends of your grass is torn not cut LOL

When I was a kid I came home with a snapper in my red wagon. It didn't even fit in the wagon it was so big. My dad had a few choice words and I returned it to the lake. That would be lake Michigan.

I'll give them a grind here soon. The first few cuts are rough, I don't like to stop for branches, mow 300 feet on a bank around my gravel road, and find many flagstones heaved over the winter. I've been through 4 hub bearing assembly'* on this 2005 Craftsman 18HP 42". Unlike the GXP, it works for a living.

They can get huge. I was on my old ski boat once on a bigger Lake in NY and the water was dancing and quivering like something out of the "Twilight Zone". I crept up at an idle and saw it just before it plunged under the surface. Was a good 3 feet across.
I mowed my lawn today..Glad i did cause its raining like a SOB now...Nicee urtle..I was at my fishing hole yesterday and there was a painted box that kept tryn to get my worm..There was also another on the shoreline dead with a broken shell and the body gone...bastards..Not cool
