Default Map for computer?

Does anyone know where you can get a downloadable program that is similar to Google'* map or mapquest? It'd be awesome to have such a program loaded onto a laptop for when I travel. An interactive map would be great, especially if you get lost and need directions. Any ideas? I looked for a bit and didn't come up with anything.

I should have specified that an internet connection should not be needed for the program to work. When you're on the road there isn't always going to be an internet connection so a program that can run without one is necessary. Thanks though.
