Is there anything harmful about drinking laser heated coffee?? Also, do the lights have to be out in order for the laser to be effective, or is it just cool to see the laser in the dark??

Lights off for wow-factor only.

That was a raw unfocused beam. And no, there'* no hazard. Far less in fact, than using a very old microwave oven.

It'* just light energy.
