Losing my liscense
Up here in Canada that would cost you your license for sure for one year.
The fine for 30 over is $500. careless driving and 6 points against your insurance too.
Tiimes three convictions and thats 18 points or about $3,000 just to get your license back after a year suspension. And you can only lose 3 points a year, so the fine carries on every year until you get to 3 points or less.
Most times the Cops will only mark 20 over the limit so you only get 3 points and no careless driving fine, just $170 plus the 3 points.
They're tough up here.
Buy a radar detector.

Where were you when you got ticketed? Thats a little on the crazy side IMO. In Illinois you would definitly have lost your license if they were all within a year, no matter what the speed.

And dont forget that our cops get payed a bonus to show up for court.
They usually only show up in court if they need the extra beer money or you really **** them off.
Believe me, they get overtime. They are on salary but it is based on 40 hr weeks. Any time over that qualifies for time and a half.
I used to get overtime against my salary job a few years ago before we were "Annualized".......we call it Analized..
....and it was a pretty good deal.
Most companies now don't pay overtime to salaried employees.
RCMP are unionized, which means they have bargaining power just like hourly workers.
That'* why you see cop blitzes every once and a while. They are sponsered by the insurance companies to help keep their costs down. The insurance companies pay the police overtime money to work extra hours to set up speed traps and the like.

ok interesting, I work in a non-union shop-mostly(but I have my go to hell truck (what you tell the boss when he pisses you off)--see below). I get payed union rates, and they sweeten the deal with overtime (time X 2) because it takes alot of influence to get some of the work bees to work till midnight, and 65dollars an hour overtime usually gets stuff done. Anyway.. what was the topic on? SORRY!!
Thats too bad. Usually in MA you do get a judgement right then + there in court. Maybe this judge does things differently but every time I've got to court to fight a ticket I know you get a decision by the end of your 'trial'. You either pay the fine at the court house or walk out a free man.
Thats not good at all. Why didn't you hire a lawyer for this one?

they never told me or sent me anything saying that i could have a lawyer. when you go to appeal a ticket do u bring a lawyer, no so i didn't think i had to bring one. there were a few people ahead of me none with lawyers and the judge handed him a 2000 dollar fine to pay at the end of the trial. everyone that was up before me got there judgement right then + there. for me he says " i will be mailing you my decision"
