looking for a program that copies files on a schedule

i want a program that will copy my flash drive to a folder on my PC nightly. something that runs itself and if i forgot to plug the flash drive in just doesn't copy anyhting or just throws an error or whatever. Does anyone know if this exists? I'm using Sync Toy right now but i don't think i can schedule that.

I believe that windows comes with a back up utility. Since I have never had to use it, I wouldnt know where to find it, but im sure Ryan will chime in or someone else who may know.

You can schedule the back up and I believe choose which drive/folder to back up.

yeah but isn't that just a .bak file or something? i don't think its usabe if, lets say i forget my flash drive at work and i need to work on my school work thats on it... i may be wrong though.

I DL'd and tried out SyncToy1.4 from MS last night.
It worked great and can be scheduled via Widows scheduler. XP or vista only and you need .net2 iirc.

Really... I'll have to look into that. i coudln't figue out how to schedule SyncToy.

IIRC you add the SyncToy job to windows scheduler and then add
" -R NAMEOFFOLDERPAIR" at the end of it.

See the help file for exact instructions.

I just use a Perl script I wrote to backup data on a directory or file basis. It'* an incremental backup that keeps track of a user-specified number of file versions and e-mail you a status report when it finishes.
