Scourge was the leader of a team of six Autobots sent to Earth to reactivate Fortress Maximus. However, when their ship crashed on Earth, they joined the giant in slumber, only to eventually be reactivated in the early 21st Century when their craft was uncovered by the Autobots and Predacons. Megatron captured the six Autobot, in protoform stasis mode, and took them to a nearby military base, where they scanned vehicle modes and were infused with a portion of Megatron'* Spark energy to turn them to evil, renaming them "Decepticons." The final Decepticon was Scourge, who scanned both a tanker truck, and, accidentally, Optimus Prime himself, resulting in the creation of a twisted parody of Prime himself with a Decepticon mentality. Scourge subsequently became the leader of the Commandos and swore fealty to Megatron, but exposure to the energies of Fortress Maximus and the O-Parts (which he possessed the special ability to sense) awoke the memories of his original mission to reactivate Maximus. However, his new, twisted mind added a specifically Decepticon bent to his goal - using the human part of his bio-signature, obtained from the human driver of the truck he had scanned, he was able to seize control of Fortress Maximus. When Koji over-rode his scheme, he then captured Koji'* friend Carl, who he believed he could manipulate into doing his bidding, and when he revealed his treachery by instructing Carl to have Maximus crush Galvatron, he and all the Decepticons paid the price when Galvatron wiped their minds, turning them back into his loyal soldiers, who continued to follow him even after he subsequently attempted to kill them. Both he and his Commandos were escorted to Cybertron with the Predacons for sentencing.

Wow I remember watching Transformers when I was a little kid. Lots of fond memories.

But I like my avatar just the way it is. You all can have your super duper Optimus Prime and whatever, but nothing can beat the Vulcan Death Grip.
