I witnessed my first car accident the other day. A Dodge Dakota rear ended an Olds Cutlass doin about 70 on the interstate the other day. I was behind the Dodge and almost ran off the road. All I could see was his taillights and black smoke from where he locked up the tires. I think the Cutlass took it better than the Dakota. Everyone was OK, though. It still shows you how quick something can happen.

I once had to drive down the side of a bridge to avoid a collision at the very top of the bridge. I was only going 35 or 40 and I heard the screeching of the tires and saw the Jeep in front of my kind of turn sideways so I hit my brakes but the antilocks still had me rolling in the Jeeps direction. I swerved to the right since that was the safest option and drove on the grass side of the bridge all the way down. It was very scary and I blew a brake line right after that.

I hate those close calls!!!

Closet call I ever had I just came around a corner and had a salt truck sliding sideways towards me, was just barely able to pull off the road before it hit me – Cousin that was in the car at the time swears he saw his life pass before his eyes.

(Went though a snow drift into a field and somehow was able to back onto the road through the same tracks – 1980 citation, if it was not for the front wheel drive on that car I could probably never had dodged it in time.)

I've been in my fair share of accidents and believe me ,I don't want to be in another one

It really amazes me some of the stupid things people do in traffic

Speaking of closest calls... mine was on the highway. I was in the right lane of two , on a long bridge, an 18-wheeler came on in the left lane just before the bridge and came right over to the right. I was literally 1/2 to 3/4 of the way under hi trailer, honking and flashing my lights like mad before he saw me and pulled back left.

Thank God my el dorado actually fit under his rig. It really was like a slow motion scene to me and I don't think my heart beat even once in those 30 seconds.

Well, the same night, still on my way home, I was on the 4 lane going back into Elberton, in the inside lane, when I saw a UPS truck in the turning lane. Well, it looked like he was gonna wait on me, but right as I got to his truck he decided to turn. I ended up all the way on the inside lane on the OTHER side of the road (cut all the way through the turning lane). No wonder my packages are always messed up.

A friend of a friend saw another friend die in front of him on I-5 Wednesday afternoon. The victim stared him right in the face just before impact with another vehicle. She died instantly.

Be grateful most of us drive Bonnevilles. Other than that white one that got tagged by the jet, we've not seen anyone die in an accident since this Forum was born. Not here, and not in the news, either.
