Lounge For casual talk about things unrelated to General Motors. In other words, off-topic stuff. And anything else that does not fit Section Description.

I've been wanting to do this for years.....

Clover is NOT a weed. It'* a self-sustaining groundcover that doesn't need fertilizer. It creates it'* own.

weed  [weed] Pronunciation Key - Show IPA Pronunciation
–noun
1. a valueless plant growing wild, esp. one that grows on cultivated ground to the exclusion or injury of the desired crop.
2. any undesirable or troublesome plant, esp. one that grows profusely where it is not wanted: The vacant lot was covered with weeds.
Any plant can be considered a weed if it is growing where it is not wanted. As an example, I pull out boston ferns by the garbage bag full and consider them weeds since they grow so profusely and wildly down here.

What you are doing is called "xeriscaping" and is an admirable effort to decrease your impact on your environment. Besides, it saves you some labor and money...

xe-ri-scap-ing  [zeer-i-skey-ping,] Pronunciation Key - Show IPA Pronunciation
–noun
1. environmental design of residential and park land using various methods for minimizing the need for water use.
Horticulturists here are getting large amounts of money to develop the best native Florida "weeds" to introduce into landscape plans and reduce water use while still being decorative.

Digging this up from page 3. I seeded last Sunday (4 days ago), and my clover (both varieties) are already sprouting. So much for 7-10 germination.

For the most part yes. But I killed what was loosely referred to as a lawn. Not much was left anyway. The clover should prevent it'* return long-term. I'll shoot pics when it all comes in nice and thick.
