They are throw-away cars. My dad was thinking about throwing 15 grand in their face for my mom and me to bomb around in, i think it was the sonata... and put like 100k on in 3 years. He said you dont have to change the oil or anything, and when it breaks out of warranty, Throw it away! That didnt happen cause the seats hurt your back after you sit in the car for an hour. Oh well. They are POS for people that cant afford to drive nicer cars. I dont think i would want to be seen driving one to tell your the truth. Even a brand new one.

What year crown vic? I got a 92 and those cars are amazing they have no problem pushing not only 40k but 400k he should junk the hyundai and stick with the crown vic there quick and built like tanks so you can drive it though a brick wall without any problems (not that I have done any dangerous manuvers in a c.v. ) and its kind of fun watching everyone get in the right lane and slow down to 55 when your on the freeway. And ill stop hear because I know I can go on and on about c.v. And bonnies of course

I don't think that'* a fair statement. We have a '05 Santa Fe which is decked out and was by no means a "cheap SUV". Granted it'* still in low miles, and hasn't had the opportunity to do a lot of things. But here'* my question (since I'm not going to argue mechanics with anyone-we all know how much I know about that), if these things are so aweful, why does everyone have one? I live in an area where many people can afford alot of things, and Hyundais are probably one of the more popular foreign brands.

I work with a guy that was going on and on one day about his great car and how it'* rare because his type of car isn't made usually as a 5 speed so they had to find one for him... A KIA spectra. lol

Personally I just don't like them. Roomate years ago had a Hyundai and the carb needed to be rebuilt by 70K, they did that all the time.

Lots of people don't know any better and think 10/100,000 is a great warranty. Warranties are only as good as what they cover and the people that make the repairs happen.

Nate.. you can sleep well at night knowing your two cars are in the GM family.

I have heard great things about Kia'*. Word on the street the car carrier dudes (what ever they are called, the people that drive trucks with like 12 cars on them and they deliver them to dealers) have to go to a special training session to haul Kia'*. Supposedly if you chain them down wrong you bend the frame. What happens when you hit a pothole?

I had a big long post about Hyundai'* and how every auto manufactuer (I so didn't spell that right) has its problems. But I knew if I posted it all the haters in this thread wouldn't understand

Just be careful if you buy a newer crown victoria. The diff tends to frag pretty quick.

Also be careful if you buy a new Ford Explorer. The drive train makes more thumps and clunks than I have ever heard in a car. Not to mention the scraping noise you hear when you are doing tight menuvering.

99-04 blazers will fry a wheel bearing every 10000 miles.

I think it was the last generation of GMC/Chevy 1/2 ton pickups will never have a right side DRL.

Jeep Cherokee'* will eat brake pads for breakfast.

You really could go on all day. Sure, some problems are more serious than others, but almost every car will have something weird about it. I'm not defending Hyundai, but I am just saying you have to be careful how you rip on one company. I personally haven't met anyone that has had a problem with their Hyundai. Just as you have probably never heard of anyone that has had any of the problems that I have listed. Those are just ones that I have heard or experienced myself.

Agreed Logan.. I've heard good things about nearly every car and bad about nearly every car.

I'd rather drive a rusted out 78 pinto than a new hyundai any day. Their warranty is a bunch of BS

I had an 87 or 88 Excel that I bought brand new while in the Army. For what it was, it was a decent little car. No major mechanical issues. Finally sold it in 95. The only issues were some rust (well, duh, it got moved to MN) and the suspension was shot (just the shocks and struts)

Maybe thier quality has gone downhill since then, but I see a buttload of 'em every day...
