You're overreacting.
I had NOS on a car and called it NOS because more people would understand what I was talking about. But maybe I'm just a ricer.

I blame it on the fast and the furious. I didn't hear n2o referred to as NOS as much as I do now until after that movie came out... lol.
I order tea when I go to restaurants . In the car industry referring to something by its correct name is important. if you were to go and talk to a respected engine builder about NOS, he would just assume you just didn't know what you were talking about and did not do your research, lol. I just want some naaaaws on my car, yo!.
I work with computers for a living. Do you refer to the computer as a CPU or a hard drive? Because many people that don't know any better do (cpu is a small chip inside the computer, and a hard drive is what stores data). I immediately group them in the group of people that don't know what they are talking about. I have never heard someone in the respected car builders circle refer to nitrous oxide as naws. Its just a pet peeve of mine...Almost as bad as hearing people talk about their new rims! (What? You got new rims put on your wheels? Didn't know that was possible....)
