Straight, flat roads or not, if the driver were to have a blow out or other mechanical failure it just wouldn't matter. What about an animal running in front of the vehicle? Loose gravel that spilled off a truck? Perhaps an unseen pothole? Public roads are not the place for this kind of totally irresponsible speed. Whatever may cause a driver to lose control can have too great an impact on everyone else around. These speeds are stupid and I completely agree that with this much excess a very strong message must be sent. For anyone who thinks it'* okay, ask yourself if you be okay finding out your family member, spouse, child or someone else close to you was killed by someone driving this way?
