Issue with Social Security
Today, I received a letter from the Ohio Department of Administrative Services saying that my name and social security number was on a back up computer which got stolen.
They're saying there'* a risk for identity theft. They're offering me a one year service with some company called Debix.
My question is this, is Debix legit?, there'* a website called www.debix.com/stateofohio
I'm not real familiar with this kind of thing and I don't want to go registering to everything...

Hmm, I heard a few things happening like that. I would do lots of research before signing up with anyone. It could be a scam it could be real. I would take it as a scam right now. I would call Ohio Department of Administrative Services and make sure this is something legit. Also If you dont know what Ohio Department of Administrative Services is or even if it exists I would take it one step further and call a local Government department

My mom got the same thing in the mail today. I heard that someone took home and laptop and left it in plain sight in there car so it got stolen :?
A school I used to attend had our financial office broken into around the holidays and a pc and bunches of records got stolen. I didn't find out till months after the fact from the school and even then it was in a letter sent to my house But they did sign my mom & I up for some credit monitoring service.

Chedk out the .gov link I posted. It looks legit. But, you also need to remember the chances of whoever stole the computer using any of the info on it are slim to none. They probably already wiped the hard drive and sold/traded the thing for drugs...
