Default Irony of what is learned in class

I have a Human resources and Decision Sciences course this semester and on the first 2 days they were both talking about the changes in the economy and how traditional methods have been replaced with more socially biased methods. They mentioned that it used to be what a person knew is what determined what and how far they could go in the business world but anymore it is more based on the connections made and the people that are known. I have talked to my case manager for the financial aid i am on and told her that i was having issues with all the crap that was happening at work and all the short comings that I see and blatant disregard for rules that makes me sick. I had finally gotten my AS in busn admin last spring and so I finally have that highly sought after piece of paper that says I am special lol. I got a call from the case manager before class today and she asked if i was serious about wanting to get another job. I told her that i would love to if I could find one that has better pay and has the flexibility to deal with my school schedule, to my surprise she said she has a line on a job that would fit me perfect and is an entry level position but it is a foot in the door and has extensive upward mobility and potential. She laid it out and it looks like the job is a glorified paper pusher but the kicker is that the pay is 4 dollars an hr more then I am making now and has pto and benefits. Since this is a federal job I can sell back my military time to advance quicker and have more opportunities and more time towards the federal retirement. So i told my instructor for the HR class and he is seeing if there is a way I can basically stay in his class and take it as a satellite class for this semester then do the next semesters all online till the degree is completed, so we will see what comes of this but i already have an interview and the case manager is grooming me for the position since I will be working along side them. We will see what happens but from the sounds of it unless I totally botch something i am a shoe in for it. This just goes to show that what they are actually teaching is dead on lol and that this social networking can have the opportunity to either help or hurt you. In my case I am going to take this as far as possible and work on improving my house and property so that the value will steadily increase and that if and when i sell it can fetch a higher asking price even in this down market that has gripped the country. for the time being I am going to work on bringing the house into the 21st century and add a little style and curb appeal to it. Looks like things are starting to look up some for me... this also means the gto will get a D1sc and other fun goodies. :burnout:
