IP address??
i re installed my covert operations game to my new computer that has windows xp and i wanna play it online with some friends that have it also ..but i dont remember how to find my IP address to give them.. help!! ..gawd i love playin those FPS games on the computer ..i get way addicted.

if you're on a private net, or behind a firewall your computer could be using an IP that is private (10.X.X.X, or 192.X.X.X..), or you could be surfing through one public ip assigned to your router or other device..
You can certainly run wipipcfg on WinXp, or open a command prompt (start, run, cmd) and type ipconfig. If you are using a private number (see above) you can go to a site like http://www.grc.com (not urle'd on purpose) to see your ip address (GRC: shields up to run the port test and to see what IP you are using).
I know the problem has been solved already...

yes and no. Most firewalls (hardware and software) you can specify certain traffic (ports) access to and from your computer. Read up in the documenation that accompanied your firewire for more info on how to turn these on and off, and what type of traffic uses which ports..

or if you want could just go to http://www.myip.com/ it'll tell you your ip and nothing more, or http://www.showmyip.com it'll tell ya a bit more, linux is ifconfig if anyones cares
