Default Internet Problem

I hope some of you know about DSL. So here'* the thing. It started about a week ago, have been on the phone with tech support for oh 5 hours in the last 3 days, and they even sent out a guy to replace the modem. What happens in my internet will go down after about 20 mins. I still get good signal frome everything.. they ran a line check and all that stuff, and if i'm downloading something, say on a peer to peer network, it will continue to download, even though i can't go to the web pages. If i'm allready signed on.. i can still im people after it goes down, but can't sign on when it'* down. Then in i unplug my modem it'll work for another 20 mins.. same deal.. Any ideas.. let me know.

My first question would be how far do you live from the actual EXCHANGE.....? This distance is critical, and spooky crap can happen if you're on the edge of coverage.

My second thought would be that this is an OS problem. I don't think your PC is handling the connection right. When you reset the modem, the os 'sees' it again.

Do you have the most current patches installed from MS' Windows Update?

The ipconfig /flushdns command provides you with a means to flush and reset the contents of the DNS client resolver cache

are you on windows 2000 operating system??
