Default Internet Explorer 5.5 problem, Help!

Here'* on for ya:

I have Windows 95 (yeah, yeah...).

Whenever I click on the little maximize button up in the corner, the screen on IE 5.5 maximizes so that it is offset to the right about a quarter inch, like it actually thinks my screen is 1/4 inch to the right. None of my other programs maximize this way. The desktop background still appears normally behind in on the left side (in the 1/4 inch slot)

How in the hell do you fix it? I tried reinstalling it once... Same thing.

This may fix your problem: http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;[LN];194759 . It does require making changes to the registry file, which if done improperly, can cripple your computer, and possibly force you to re-install the operating system.

Good luck!!!

Well, it didn't work, but I think we may be on the right track. Is there a maximize value in the registry for IE?

I took a look at it, and the window placement key is in HEX. If you deleted it and restarted, and nothing worked then I would recommend upgrading to version 6 and see what happens.

Fud...you should run a windows update. In the Start menu near the top there should be a option to select Windows Update, it takes you to an MSN site that evaluates your OS and gives you a selection of software updates for your computer. its seems to work for me.

You need at least windows 98 to use IE 6, had alot of people call us ( at my old job ) and they still had 95 and were pretty much screwed if they wanted to update to IE6,
