The higher the ranking a website has on Google, the more chance the website will have at being at the top of the search list when someone searches for something.

Without paying a fair amount of money this or any site will never be anywhere near the top of rankings. If it were so ranked right now this place would have at least 100 times or more traffic from searches.

You don't have to pay 'money' to be anywhere in the rankings. Its about presence and working hard to move a website forward.

Rankings does not equal members. If you could see the 'whos online' feature of the forum, you would see that there are literally hundreds of 'people' visiting this site. I can see exactly where each person is at on the forum. Problem is, most people that come here, search the forum, find the answer and move on. If you noticed most of the members that do register, they ask their question, get the answer they need, then never come back for further participation. Unlike the forum in the past, we had hundreds of active members, that is, until IB came in, changed the domain name to this place and people lost interest because it was no longer a one brand show.

If you were to simply google 'gmforum' we come in third at the top of the list of results. So I think your argument that we have low rankings is hugely mistaken.

Truth is any place that does not make money through membership fees or advertising will need to do things that will allow for search terms that bring up the site other than something so specific as gmforum. Since gmforum is the name of this sites domain it should be at the top of every search for gmforum. I looked at the source code for the page and the meta tags are close to none existent. If they were updated with relevant keywords would help with people looking for specific vehicles such as, Buick help, chevy forum etc.
This place needs help and I think you know that. A good forum will have thousands of visitor per hour.
