Do I need a new license plate for my new car?
You can take the plate from your old car and move it to the new one. Transferring a plate does require a trip to a Secretary of State branch office. Bring your current registration (or your license number), the title for your new vehicle, and $8. You will need to pay additional fees if you're also applying for a new title.

That'* a drag. Even if it was a beater, I hate to hear of someone being jacked like that. My old Z24 got hit by an underage, unlicensed driver and his dad fought it for years. I had good insurance which included coverage against uninsured motorists so my insurance paid me off and then sued him for what it cost.
As far as the bogus tag goes, I know that here you can be fined for having the wrong plate on a car if it is anywhere in public view, in your yard or not.
Different states have different laws about that sort of thing. In Oklahoma, the license plate is assigned to the vehicle and stays on a vehicle after it is sold.

I used to "hate the cops" when I was your age. As I got older I got to know more of them, some of them I had gone to school with and I became more aware of the job they do. I have found that they treat me as bad as I treat them, or they act as civil toward me as I do toward them. Think of them like a big mean dog, if you stay out of his yard, he could care less about you. With the cops, keep all your paper work done, your tags up to date, and your driving habits within reason, and they won't look at you twice.

I'm nice to cops man, and my ****'* kept straight man... but i've got long hair, so i'm automatically a drug dealer and they are out to get me. Literally, i'm not some paranoid crackhead here. They love to bug me. I literally used to get pulled over about every other week in the corsica, because everyone knew who I was, what kind of car I drove, and wanted to catch me doing something wrong.

You guys should read that michigan reg page... they are kind of funny... for a government website.

PLPD is michigan'* liability only insurance. It'* the cheapest, and everyone has it because insurance is insane here.

If you're only carrying liability coverage, you won't get a payout from your insurance company. Liability coverage, or PLPD as you call it, only provides protection if you were the driver to be found at fault in an accident. The coverage level YOU carry covers the hardship you caused them.

In the situation you described, non of that applies so you won't get a payout if you only carry liability coverage.

Vital: You are correct. However, this falls into a completely different category, because it was a parked car. I won't get a payout from my insurance company, but I will get it from his insurance company.

I love living in a small town, because word is already out on who did it. I know who did it, his name, where he lives, what car he drives, etc. It was a mid-90s altima, and surprisingly cosmetically his car came out better, but his right front tire is askew, and my guess is although mine looks worse, didn't do anything structurally and his, probably killed the suspension and/or frame.

At the very least, if I don't get any money, I know who'* *** to kick

I hope you don't mean that literally, as that won't help anything at all

Definitely not. I'm a non-violent person man. Seriously... never been in a fight, nor hit anyone with the intention of causing harm. I don't make waves, i just chill in the water.

Well folks, finally the police report got done [only today!]. Still had to pay $5 too... stupid cops. Anyways, did some leg work with the insurance company, turns out guy doesn't have insurance. Called him up, talked to him personally, and not only is he going to pay $500 in damages, I also sold the car itself for another $500. So basically my $300 investment, just turned into $1000. I'm damn happy, because it'* one nice *** day today. And my might-as-well-be brother knows the guy pretty well, and said he'll definitely pay me, and it won't be a problem as far as me not getting the money.

That certainly is good news.

And on a side note; is not having insurance legal in your state?
