so, two of my poems are being published locally in a publication put out by a college around here. im quite proud of that. heres the two poems that are being published (that i wrote last year, incidentally):

anti-homosexuality
anti-christianity
anti-everything
because to be part of a group
part of a culture
makes me a sell-out
in a world full of subdivision;
a culture comprised of counter-cultures.

Call me old-fashioned, but
being self-absorbed is -
being a brat is -
being a **** is -
NOT something to be admired
or advertised.

And anti is spelled ante in that usage

its a play on language. anti = prefix that the poem is about.

dont worry, i wont write any about you. man, you should read some of that stuff i wrote about my ex.

So tell us, how did you get to the point of publishing? Lets here the story.

i enrolled in a class last yeasr with one of the editors. it was a creative writing class, so one time we were given a writing assignment to write a short work using the words "Red Barette". i wrote the following poem:

Faerie Tale

a singular shot of color
in her snow-white hair
a memory
of a forgotten love

let it go, dear one
there will be no prince
to rescue you
from your sleepless nights

your night will find you
alone and awake
still waiting
with a red barette


so the way the class was set up, we traded works with everyone else in class, took a week to read over it all and analyze it, then came back and talked to everyone about what they wrote. the poem went over well, and the editor asked me to bring in a couple other works for her to read over. i took those two poems in, and she told me i should submit them. i did, and they were accepted.

Congratulations!!! I like to write poetry but I can only write it if I am either very angry or very happy. I have had a dry spell for the past several months but when I was going through the divorce I wrote some hellacious poems about him.
