A girl at work has a 97 escort with an idling problem. It has an EXTREMELY low idle to the point that it almost stalls and it'* running very rough at idle. If you rev it up it does just fine. I put my scanner on it, and the car has no codes at all stored, so I don't think it'* a bad sensor. I checked the air filter and that too is fine. I"m thinking possibly a bad/broken vacuum hose but I don't hear any hissing under the hood. any ideas? :(

Try cleaning the MAF Also clean the IAC.

trade her for your car, and take it to a shop, but tell her you fixed it...

get some intake cleaner, start the car, start spraying vacuum hose connections
take her out to a movie
take her home
fix broken vacuum line

My solution, shoot it and help her find a nice SLE or SSEi

and that favor will turn into a even bigger favor

i like this idea...except...replace shoot with throwing off cliff

I know that some of the Ford engines have EGR tube and PCV issues. I don't know if that would be one of them or not.
