My friend has an Apple i pod and I thought the sound was awsome and it has 15 G of space, something like 5000 songs. He talked me in to buying one, $300 OUCH, so i'm hoping I made a good decision. Do any of you have one and how do you think they hold up?

We have a few of them in the computer lab where I work, so I have some familiarity with them. They have the LEAST problems out of anything in the lab Not sure if this is because most people don't use them or if it'* because of how they're designed, but whatever works. The only problem I have had with them is that I couldn't get AIM to work right.

The only thing I've heard bad about (except that they're Apples ) is that if the battery dies, you're screwed. It'* not easily replaceable. Check on your warranty for that.

nuthin wrong with apples... i usually post on this site using an 8 year old mac that can still pace my work laptop (1.8 p4 m) in many tasks... and of course, i've never once had a virus since i started using macs back in the 80'*...

as for the ipod, you'll love it... all questions will fade when you start using it... most people i talk to have fallen in love with their'* and never look back...

as for batteries, lots a bad press over nothin... a few people have had battery issues (after 3 years of using the thing), and there'* two ways to replace it (which aren't hard). there'* an aftermarket kit for 49 dollars, and you can send it to apple for 100. not that you'll have to worry about it for at *least* 3 years, but whatever....
