Seriously, I think everybody runs into motivational issues. I know I sure do. What I've been trying to do is set aside 1 hour per night to tackle some project on the composite list of household/work/toys projects. Just one hour. Whether it'* done or not, I just move on after the hour is up. That way, I can always say I did "something" today.
Last night it was cleaning up the NOS bottle and brackets to mount in the Bonneville'* trunk. Tonight, who knows, I'll figure that out tonight.
I used to watch some of the car shows on Sat & Sunday morning to get motivated. Sometimes that is too damn depressing ("Why can't I get those kind of results that quickly"..forgetting that it'* a TV show and there'* a crew out of camera sight that attacks the car en-masse.)

You need to hook up with two things.
A good woman and a fast car.
You need to take them both to their limits.
......more than once.
If that doesn't work, maybe it'* your diet. :?

I believe I have a good women although she gave up on trying to motivate me since the last thing she said was, "either sell them or get them on the road, you don't need more paperwieght around" OUCH!
As for a fast car, it hasn't seen the road in 17 years, which brings me back to my problem.
As for my diet, I did put on about 25 pounds in the last year, hmmmm maybe you're getting somewhere, where'* a shrink when you need em?
Gonna have to think about that one....

I think the only way I can get motivated is to have someone with me to keep me in line sort of speak, Yelling at me doesn't help.
Oh what am I to do?

EVERYONE goes through Male Menopause...mid-life crisis...whatever you want to call it. In my experience, it will occur anywhere between the ages of 37 - 47... but it'* real. It may not be diagnosed and written down in any medical books... but it is real.
Most folks just categorize it as Depression... but many realize that it occurs when men suddenly realize their mortality...they stop and look at where they are in life and say, "****!!! I'm no where'* NEAR as successful as I thought I would be." Then <<Poof>>... some buy motorcycles, get tatoos, earrings, have affairs, you name it... anything to feel young again and like they've accomplished something.
Who knows... maybe you do need to just ditch the old projects and try something new... Scuba Diving... or parachutting... or making model airplanes.

Looks like I've already done the male menopause thing you're talking about. as for trying something new, I've done the scuba diving, but parachuting, if you can guarantee that the chute will open then I'm in, and don't tell me there'* no guarantee'* in life.

About the only thing that puts a crimp on my motivation is the damn weather...when it'* 110 and 100% humidity out in the garage, It'* tough wanting to go out there and work on something. But still, I try to use the 1 hour per day rule...if I'm really into what I'm doing, it will turn into 3,4,5,6..hours without me even noticing the time going by.
If you can't motivate yourself to that level, then there'* not much I can suggest except re-evaluating why your are doing it. (Maybe working on cars is NOT your cup of tea.)
