You may need a more medical name for the tube though.

I hope it isn't your kid.
Once you have a more precise term identified, you can go to google.com and find anything.
Here'* a start:

its actually me
i have had it for 4 years now and its time for it to come out... my doctor is in new york and cant do it because i have pa state insurance now.... and the doctors in pa are not familar with it so they want to strap me down and stick a breathing tube in my nose and a camera down my throat to my stomach to see it...
i beleive it just pulls right out like yard weeds... and the wound would heal it self with no stitches... that im positive of..
i had a trach (breathing tube) removed from my neck about 2 years ago and thats exactly how they did it.. just pulled it out , taped a gauzw pad around my neck and sent me home exactly 5 minutes later......
man im affraid of the pain... i was told getting it removed will feel like getting hit in the stomach by a professional boxer,,, and yes the doctor told me this himself....

its been 4 years i cant take it no more.. its so annoying especially trying to work with this thing in my stomach........ but bills must be paid....
I'd be damned I let some Dr touch me that doesn't know what the hell he is doing. That alone should be enough reason for your PA insurance to cover the NY visit or at least refer you to a PA Dr that has done it before.
It'* stupid to do an expensive procedure just to see what needs to be done and then another expense to get it done when they can save some money by ok'ing the NY Dr visit.

I had a situation where I switched doctors. I had a couple of biopsies at one hospital in town and decided to use a specialist affiliated with the other hospital in town. The specialist had me go pick up my own X-ray file from the hospital and hand deliver it myself to the specialist'* office. All it cost me was time and gas money across town. After a few months the hospital contacted me to have the X-rays returned and I referred them to my specialist. That'* the last I ever heard about it.
It sounds like you are getting screwed by your insurance provider.
