So here'* the deal. Here at clemson university i pull my car into a regular commuter space in the morning. about 10:00. I have class all day till about 7. So i come out of class at 7 to find that my car has been towed. The response i get when i ask why is that there is a special event at the center near wehre i parked. And it was posted on the sign at the entrance to the parking lot, and they sent out e-mails. So i have to pay a 76 dollar fine and get my car. I never got a ticket... Never had to sign anything.. just got a recipt for 76 dollars. I was in class giving a presentation when it was towed. Any other day at this time it is a legal spot. is theer anything i can do?

Probably not. Clemson University property is considered private property. If they indeed had a sign up, whether you saw it or not, I think you're hosed. If they damaged the car, however, the towing company'* insurance is liable.

Providing they have coverage. I just found out that the company I've used (too many times to mention) had no coverage. No wonder I got the tows so cheap. The driver even helped us push the cars into the garage at home. They would tow me more than 30 miles and only charge me $25- $30 (frequent tower discount) which is so very, very reasonable. Unfortunately, they were bought out by another company and the tows will be more expensive but I have coverage for that.

Anyone that tows for a college or large business will have to prove insurance to get the contract.

Maybe not Will. It is South Carolina where I once paid a speeding ticket with a wrist watch. Of course that was in 1969. LOL

Quick, kick a tail light out. LOL, just kidding. My advice is just pay the ticket. $76 is quite a bit for a college student though.

Some friends of mine got towed from hooter'* last night....Whoever called didn't even tell them or leave them any info on the towing company, or even what company towed it.
