Exactly!!! I don't understand why they give kids medication. Their kids, we (older guys) had the same problems, it'* called growing up and we turned out just fine! ADD is a crock of crap if you ask me. Find me one 16 year old that does pay attention in class instead of thinking about girls, I dare you. Sorry if my post offended anyone, it is only my opinion.

I respect opinions. But Its real hard to explain to someone what happens to your when you have ADD. I have to shoot off to some mothers day stuff here in a just a bit. Ill come back tonight and tell a little more of my storey and what is happening to myself and my son. You have to believe this just on faith from me. The realization and the things Ive done to correct or help this have made a huge difference in my life. More later.

i just had this big arguement about add and aghd and my friend who has it. well it turn into a all night arguement. he used to cool to hang out with and stuff now they have him on 2 pills a day (not sure how meny mg) but he has changed alot since he went on his meds. he thinks his brain works like 100x faster then everyone else and he says he can see into people souls and see who and what they really are through their eyes. lets just say im not going to me hangin out with him as much. but it hard since ive know him since 8th grade and were 21 and 22 now. its hard to see ur best friend change so much to the point u dont wanna hang out with him as much all cuz a few pills.

I was diagnosed with ADHD in second grade (will be a sophmore next year in college) and was taking Ritalin up until I came to college. With everything going on in college, I needed some extra help focusing so my doctor switched me to Adderall 30mg extended release and it'* been great. I still have some problems but I'm a typical college guy.

I was diagnosed with ADD with hyperactivity in 3rd grade (i'll be a senior next year). I've never taken a pill for it in my life. Between my parents and the doctor they decided it would be better to let it play out. As i got into high school i've been more mature and able to control the effects, but now i use three drugs to control it: caffine, nicotene, and stolichnaya. Yea... that'* what i'm talkin about. Lol.

I am 34 and I think I have had ADHD my whole life but I must ad mit back when I went to school they Didnt have a medical term like ADHD for it.. I am on anti depression meds though. Effexxor XL. Dont ever let the doctor put you on that.

I had a psychiatrist tell me I had an anxiety disorder and ADHD, and a psychologist tell me I didn't.
The psychiatrist asked me questions for like 10-15 mins then decides to just put me on medicine. I was like.... um... no. She tried to convince me for like 10 mins. but I'm waay too stuborn.
The psychologist had me take all these tests and decided that I didn't have ADHD. I may have had it when I was younger but I found ways to compensate.
I went to these people because I was doing real bad in school at the time (sophmore year of college) and was on the verge of dropping out. Going through the whole process was what helped me out the most. I kinda just woke up and realized I could find ways to do better and make up for my lack of concentration.
So, now I'm one semester away from graduating and I'm doing better than ever. And I did it without any meds. Now I'm not saying this is possible for everyone, but for a lot of people I really don't think meds are needed.
And as for Adderal, I've personally seen that drug mess up 3 of my friends lives. They got addicted to it, didn't sleep for days, tried to take on too much stuff at once and eventually it all fell on thier face.

I have ADHD very bad along with extreme anxiety. I had to quit school because of it and alderal caused heart ahrethmia for me, sooo.. I lost health coverage but am looking for state health care so I can return to school. Surely I should be able to find the correct meds and doses I need. Despite having a higher than average IQ (142) my ADHD makes math impossible and I sometimes do and say things that make me look borderline retarded.
