Default I was diagnosed with ADD, anyone else got it.

I got diagnosed a few months back and was put on Adderal, 20mg. Then a 5mg at pm. Anyone else have any experience with ADD and how you have tackled it?

I was diagnosed with ADD, and ADHD both at 5 years old. I've been on Methylphenidate (Ritalin) since then.

My Son has ADHD and is taking Aderall for it. He takes the extended release (XR) 30mg every day in the morning.

It wears off in the late afternoon. I think it works, but my son has allot of other issues that I am trying to get a handle on at the moment. He just started seeing a counselor about a month and a half ago and the counselor prescribed my him Prozac Once a day for depression........ :? Hes only 12

People keep telling me it will take some time until he gets his act together, but quite frankly, hes going into 6th grade next year and the pace that they are going, I dont think my son will do well. Im just going to help him with as much as I can and keep my fingers crossed!

When my dad passed away, I said things.. that would get attention.. which got me put into counseling.. I told my mom a year later it was a waste of money, and i wouldn't ever really be too happy, welp, i was correct

but on a different note.. there'* too much medicine in my opinion going into his body..

Counseling really in my opinion does nothing much for people, is it helping him do you think ?

Eric, I believe it is helping him. The counselor he sees is at a child development center here in MA. I have seen some small improvement in the little time my son has gone, but theres still a LONG way to go yet.

When you have one parent who cares (me) and another who doesnt (his mother) This is the end result after living with her for 5 years, doing as he pleased. I'm sure It is a tough transistion for him to make living with me because there are rules and Consequences. Hes defying them on a daily basis to see how far he can push the boundaries. I dont let him, and hes getting the hint little by little.

My son will eventually overcome this period in his life and will no longer need medication, but in order to make it, we have to take the proper steps to get him there.
