Default I am really pissed!! *RANT*

I was supposed to get a raise 1 year and 4 months ago and never got it. When I asked about it, both times I was told "we can't afford it right now", so I let it go. Now mind you, the last time I asked this was 3 months ago. Right now I make $500 a week, and it was supposed to go up to $600.00. Well, the reason for my rant is one of the guys that works here with me just got a $200 a week raise. He will now be making $1,200 a week, and he'* only worked here 1 year. I've been here just about 2 years, and do double the work he does.

Sorry to hear, but if may ask a few questions?

Did I not read about this complaint before?.

The person that is making more than you, is he doing the same job with the same skills and with the company approximately the same time?

If not who is adding more value to the company and or profits?

Please don't take an offense to these questions.

i personally would bring this matter up in a way that does not seem like your throwing the oher guy'* raise in your arguement. and also bring up issue'* ( if you do )
about how much overtime you do when they need you and how your never late
and if you help other people at work by doing there stuff if they dont know how or are too busy with other work and explain how much of a good asset you are to the company and how they cant afford to loose someone like you but with out using these exact word..

hope this help..

my wife is fighting for her raise right now as well... its tuff and there greedy when there wealthy...

Here is the story. My office is in an autobody repair shop. I do work for the bodyshop, but the owner also owns an industrial painting company which I get paid from, and do more work for than the bodyshop. So 2 businesses run out of the same office, and it'* about to be 3 businesses since he is opening another industrial painting business.

I complained about not getting the raise before. But now I'm even more pissed since this guy got one and I didn't. I'm not bitching that the guy makes more than me, thats fine, but I deserve my raise especially since I was told I was going to get it and never did. I have worked here just about a year longer than the other guy.

Who adds more value? I do. If it wasn't for me, proposals wouldn't get done, invoices wouldn't get sent out for us to get paid, payroll/taxes/insurance stuff wouldn't get done and this place would be in some deep doo-doo.

As for profits? Neither of us really bring in any profits IMO.

Did I mention this "other guy" is my bosses son-in-law of 2 months??

Your boss seems to be taking care of his daughter. Assuming you both do similar work (bookkeeping, I presume), you are getting bamboozled. You need to have a chat with the boss. Remind him how much you help keep the place afloat. At this point don't berate the son-in-law or threaten with lawsuits, but tell him in no uncertain terms that you think you're being shafted and you're not pleased. See where that takes you.

And let me say that the best time to look for a job is when you already have one. You need to quietly market yourself around. Good bookkeepers are a prize.

You left out that VERY Important detail in your original post.

You have a couple of choices then and I believe you know what they are.
