A few years ago my family was on public assistance and Section 8 while I was in school.
Now we are off all assistance and self sufficient.
Barely getting by, but that'* life.
Anyways, Section 8 had a program to help and reward people for getting off the Programs
and becoming self-sufficient.
My family was the first to graduate.
Anyways, they made a big deal about it. I was interviewed over the phone by someone yesterday, and they had a press conference / ceremony thing today.
2 of the local news stations were there and they recorded the whole thing, and they interviewed me afterwards.

I have never been on any type of assistance but have worked with people and know that sometimes it can be extremely hard to get out of. Thats why I said way to go, You beat the system.

Yeah, it can definitely suck you in.We were actually doing better when we were on the programs, and life was easier.
But it feels good that we are doing the right thing
