This song is so deep, what a singer, and a great loss.

As long as that'* been out I keep going back and watching it. He really sings the song like he lived every word of it. When Trent Reznor was approached to let Johny do this cover of his song, he agreed with reservations that Johny couldn't do it justice. After watching the video for the first time he had this to say.

"I pop the video in, and wow… Tears welling, silence, goose-bumps… Wow. I felt like I just lost my girlfriend, because that song isn't mine anymore… It really made me think about how powerful music is as a medium and art form. I wrote some words and music in my bedroom as a way of staying sane, about a bleak and desperate place I was in, totally isolated and alone. Somehow that winds up reinterpreted by a music legend from a radically different era/genre and still retains sincerity and meaning — different, but every bit as pure."

Johny Cash lived all his music and came through it to live a long life that showed his true grit and character. He was a childhood favorite of mine. And even though as I grew up and veered sharply towards hard rock and heavy metal, I never lost my love of the man or his music. Rest In Peace Johny. It was great to know you. And Thank You for the songs and memories you have left behind.

I've always liked his music. You can feel so much in his voice. Other performers sing, but Johnny sang with heart and feeling.

Edit:
Another great one. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jQcNiD0Z3MU

That first song is chilling to the bone. It'* hard to watch and see how rundown and hard-lived Cash looks

All out of rope. I have some piano wire. We might be able to get a nice B-Flat twang from Brian when we kick the chair out from under him.

Never liked the original version of "Hurt," but Johnny Cash just stole the show. I was never a huge Cash fan, but I gained a ton of respect for him when I first heard this.

Ironically, my girlfriend'* ex, a huge Johnny Cash fan, said "Hurt" was the only song he disliked.
