Be careful with inverters. You do not want to run anything connected to the computer with a inverter when it'* plugged in to the OBD2 port. Although rare, there have been fires because of this. Something about feedback between the two different connections and burning up the car. I had a picture somewhere, I'll look.

Do NOT use a inverter when connecting threw a USB port. You will cause a feed back from the loop. Results are bad,

I didn't remember that as being Jared'* issue. Everyone I know that tunes with the exception of one person has no issues with inverters. Although HPT recently started adding the warning that you can fry the HPT by using an inverter.

Like I said, it'* rare, but not worth the risk in my book. Remember, your USB port provides power to the tuner, and there'* also power coming from the OBD2 port. Now add a inverter and that'* providing power to the computer. So the tuner is getting power from two different locations that are now connected by the inverter. Feed back loop.
Wow, that was even the same body style as mine. What about an external monitor though? I figured I would run the laptop on battery (although it'* good you mention this, because eventually I'm sure I would have plugged it in). The external monitor would be powered by the inverter, and the laptop would only be connected through the vga to send video, it would run on battery,

If you have a UPS it might still be a good idea to use that to run the monitor just in case the near impossible strikes. Always good to err on the safe side
Anyone know of a good guide to hptuners/tuning. I see that they offer a class for $450 that although expensive is very tempting. I'm just curious if anyone knows a cheaper way to learn everything I need to know.
