Default how often do you check your oil?

im just curious. personally every time i get gas while its pumping i check all my fluids, check the serpentine belt for cracks/wear and make sure my radiator/tranny cooler doesn't have too many bugs in it.

I check it about once a week. Not so much for level, but for color.

I usually check it once a week, or after every long trip.

I don't normally check at the gas station (actually I never check there) because my dipstick doesn't indicate actual levels immediately after turning the car on. Am I the only one that happens to?

No. No car can accurately display oil level if the engine has been running. Auto tranny fluid though, that'* the best time.

Always before leaving town which normally occurs several times a week so I may check it every other time depending on windshield wiper use or if I want to check something else out. Or just want to hear the engine up close and personal. Some are saying keep an eye on the coolant level, so as to avoid losing an engine, soooo that means being very paranoid about fluid levels and checking all of them even more frequently, at least for a while. You know how that goes.
