I would, but the roads are way too dangerous around my place for someone on a bike. People drive like idiots.
So... ride on the sidewalk. :P

j/k
I'm not.... If you're stupid enough to ride on a busy street during rush hour, espcially when there'* a freakin' bike trail not 5 feet away, don't get mad when I pass you with as little lee way as possible...
What the heck is a bike trail?? Seriously.... There is no such thing in this entire town....entire state, probably, as I've never seen one in any of the towns/cities I've been to.... :?

I'm jealous of you folks that drive 12 blocks, 1 mile, etc.

My drive is 'bout 32 miles one way.

Two miles but way too many traffic lights. Takes b/w 15-18 minutes on average. I'd use pedal power but there isn't a good route to take.

I wouldn't ride my bike on a road.

Problem is, crossing the roads from the bike paths / sidewalks are dangerous enough. Plus many areas don't even have sidewalks or bikepaths. It'* all just busy roads.

Columbia has a PedNet program and most major roads are supposed to get either 6' or 8' paved bike paths/sidewalk. That will be pretty sweet. Slated for 2008 out where I live. Our two-lane road into downtown is going to become a four-laner.
