Yeah I think the animal shelter route with some humane traps would be the only solution that doesnt involve violence.
Most animal shelters are pretty full, so you might check to make sure theyre accepting them first.
Other solutions would be:
or the shotgun route mentioned earlier

What I would do is realize that these are animals, just like you and me. How would you like to be forced out of your habitat? What you need to do is get them in one place with some food, gate up the food, and give them away to people. That, in my mind, is the most humane way of dealing with it. Now, if it were ME, I'd embrace the cats by putting food out, etc.

There is the stuff they mention at the garden shops. Or go to a well established shop and ask the old guy behind the counter..he'll know.

But a humane (or felineane) trap would be the thing to do..
