If you engage your starter for a second or two while the engine is running? My friend did this the other day and the high pitched screech scared the crap out of him...

One time shouldn't hurt anything. I've done it a couple of times when I forget I used the remote start and the car is already running.

I wouldn't recommend doing it- but once or twice shouldn't hurt. I've done it when the car was so quiet I coudn't tell it was running. I scared me. LOL

Yes, have done that many times to our car too.

Not a pleasant noise. Everytime it happens it makes me cringe because I know that the starter and flywheel'* life is being depleated.

There'* a relay that doesn't allow it in the newer cars.

I wish the aftermarket remote starters came with that relay to disallow engaging the starter after it'* already running.

I've done it once or twice, that sound kills me. But look on the bright side - at least it lets you know whats going on!
